X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer
Coming on the heels of another big trailer released in the past week, the X-Men: Days of Future Past trailer has been released and even though 2 minute trailers can only show so much, this trailer is very eye-opening. I admit I’m excited for this movie but there’s also some healthy skepticism in the back of my mind. I’m excited for this movie because I’ve always loved the X-Men growing up, and I enjoyed X-Men: First Class but had problems with X-Men: The Last Stand. Also, Days of Future Past is one of my favorite story lines, and has already had different adaptations so there’s enough material and examples to work with to get it right. Then again, there are enough characters and time jumping to make me think of all the potential things that could go wrong (and will Cyclops death be retconned?) But Sentinels finally! And I thoroughly enjoyed the last Wolverine movie so I’m hoping they finally have it consistently right going forward.
X-Men: Days of Future Past has the X-Men and mutants as a whole living in a bleak future where they are hunted, held captive and killed by robots, called Sentinels, designed specifically for those purposes. In order to change their fate, one is sent back to the past, in this case it’s apparently Wolverine, to change the outcome of an event that led to this horrible future. So a battle is waged spanning the present and the future, and it’s their only hope of survival.
