Gabriel Knight Remake

In a piece of news that had me reminiscing about my earlier days of playing video games, Phoenix Online Studios has announced the 20th anniversary remake of Jane Jensen’s classic game, Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. It will have updated high-resolution graphics, a remastered soundtrack, improved game play mechanics and of course, the excellent story and setting of the original. I played this game from beginning to end with one of my sisters when we were teens and was hooked to the series after that. If you’ve never played the original Gabriel Knight, it’s an adventure game where you play as the protagonist of the same name, who is a Schattenjäger (shadow hunter), and it’s set in New Orleans. However Gabriel Knight comes to learn this, as he’s initially a struggling novelist and bookstore owner, who gets caught up in the mix of a string of murders in the area that have strong voodoo overtones, with the intention of using all the information he gathers as inspiration for his new novel. Yet something isn’t right as these murders are somehow connected to dreams he’s been plagued with his entire life, and a conspiracy connected to the murders seems to climb all the way up the social ladder. It’s a story of murder, intrigue, romance, and unforgettable characters set right in the middle of the always vibrant New Orleans.

I’ve always loved the classic Sierra adventure games so just saying that I’m looking forward to this being released mid-2014 is a huge understatement. Check out the official site for all the information you need.
