Predator: Fire and Stone #4

  • The good

Everything, this is how you do a finale!

  • The bad

    Only one more issue left

  • The ugly

  • Warning: Spoilers ahead

As the series comes to a close, the anticipation for the next issue grows. After a slow start, the Predator series has ramped up considerably the last two issues. Suffice to say, Predator: Fire and Stone #4 is one of my most anticipated issues of the entire story arc. To quickly recap: Galgo has used every trick in the book to ensure his survival. He now finds himself back on LV-223 with the Predator engaged in a battle against an Engineer, whom has been the main target for quite some time.
We begin with a flashback of the Predator showing his long pursuit of an Engineer. It has spanned many years and planets. I felt this was a nice touch, as it helped us understand everything it’s been through, making the confrontation that much more important. The entire bout was magnificent, easily some of the best action since Alien vs Predator: Fire and Stone #2. It was nice to see an Engineer have an actual challenge. They’ve been shown as unstoppable forces so far, and the hunter proved to be quite the foe.
During this whole mess, Galgo attempts to help and flees when his attack on the Engineer fails miserly. But as the hunter is getting pummeled, Galgo decides to forgo his selfless acts for once and help out his brother-in-arms. After the defeat of the Engineer, there is a great scene between Angela Foster and Galgo. He admits what a selfish person and deserves all of the hell that has been brought upon him. A bit cliché in some regards, but it did the part in showing some growth to his character.

    SUMMARY

This was the perfect finale to the series with not one page wasted. This now concludes each individual series setting up the big finale in Prometheus: Omega. Predator ended up being one of my favorites, the story did a great job trying everything together and Galgo was really awesome. With one more issue remaining, we now must hope that all of this build is worth all of the effort that was put in.
