The Witcher Battle Arena

If you’ve read any of my posts about the Witcher then you know I’m a huge fan of the series, and the Witcher 3 is one of my most anticipated games for next year. So I’m more than willing to try the Witcher Battle Arena, an upcoming free-to-play MOBA being developed by CD Projekt Red. It’ll be available for iOS, Android and Windows phones, and you can sign up for the beta now but the beta is only for Android phones. Yes, “free-to-play” means you’ll be able to unlock items by purchasing them but CD Projekt Red states that you can unlock everything in the game without paying for it nor will you be required to play endlessly since its system will be “honest.” I would take them by their word for that because what I’m more interested in is whether or not the gameplay features will be fun, and the world as engrossing as the series, and it seems like that might be the case. All the main characters from the series are available as heroes complete with unique abilitiesย and requires different tactics in order to be successful. The premise here is the war between the Nilfgaardian Empire and the kingdoms of the North. Those who have no allegiance to any side seek glory in the Nilfgaardian Arena, and the winner will be granted any wish by the Emperor. This is where all the fighting will take place in a 3 versus 3 match whether it’s all players or you playing alone versus bots. CD Projekt Red has released its first trailer and the graphics and game play look hella fresh. I’m looking forward to its release, since I can’t sign up for the beta, and it’s another mobile game I’ll be adding to the list of those I play. Hopefully it’s a smash! Check out the trailer:

Yeah I had fun playing that mode in the Witcher 2. This is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game so it’ll follow those rules with some variations on it to fit this particular game. If you’ve never played a MOBA before then this might be a good one to start

I have not much experience with this kind of games, though I heard a bit about similar one Guardians of Middle Earth (apparently there are new ‘characters’ to play as, like for example Barrow Wight or Bert the trolls hehe ๐Ÿ™‚ oh the Wights I always wanted them to be more present in Lotr based games hehe) this too looks interesting. Oh by the way have you seen the witcher 3 trailer titled Sword of Destiny ?(was it on e3? I don’t remember I’ve seen so far three trailers, four if counting this one titled ‘killing monsters’) It looked AWESOME, and guess who finally showed up…hehe (and how’s books ๐Ÿ™‚ ).

Yes, Guardians of Middle-Earth is another one but I haven’t played that. I will play the Witcher one since it’s mobile and I can play it on the go. The Last Wish started off very good and I should have time to finish it before NYCC is over. Also, about 2 more weeks to go until Shadow of Mordor

Heheh the Last Wish eh? ๐Ÿ™‚ There is lots of content before you yet, after this book there are six left (Sword of Destiny another tome of short stories and then five tomes of novels :)). Anyway good reading as for Shadow of Mordor I too am waiting for it anxiously.

Yeah, and I’m looking forward to reading all of it. I should be well-versed in the Witcher lore before the Witcher 3 comes out. So I’ll be able to enjoy the entire experience even more.
And for Shadow of Mordor, I have high hopes for it now and I honestly believe that I’ll love it. Are you getting it on the 30th?

Sometime later, probably, we’ll see. Anyway I have high hopes for this game and maybe after it’s success we’ll get new lotr related games, free roam rpg’s (though trying to put WHOLE MIDDLE EARTH would be nearly impossible task hehe ๐Ÿ™‚ but highly tempting to try to).

I think putting the whole middle earth in a free roam rpg, outside of LOTRO or another MMO, would be a difficult task. Of course it’s possible in terms of size but there would have to be a lot of activities and quests to justify the size. If this game is very successful and the demands keep growing then maybe down the line it’s possible. The Arkham series started off just in an asylum and has expanded to all of Gotham now.
