White Suits #3

  • The good

Story moves forward with some meaningful developments. Entertaining action

  • The bad

Action is slightly difficult to follow due to facial recognition issues and no huge revelations connected to character development

  • The ugly

  • White Suits #3 continues the story of FBI Agent Sarah Anderson and Prizrak right after their unfortunate capture at the hands of the criminal organizations in NYC. The only thing they have that could benefit them is the fact that these organizations have suffered many losses at the hands of the White Suits and the only thing they would want more than taking out their frustrations on the two of them would be to get revenge against the White Suits. And considering the White Suits have the bosses in their sights it’s only a matter of time before they take them out. So they hear out Sarah and Prizrak to understand their true motives and if they’re really after the White Suits too, and the uneasy alliance grows as a plan is formed to take out the murderous posse using Sarah and Prizrak’s knowledge of them and the resources of the NYC criminal organizations. This would be akin to stirring up a hornet’s nest but the White Suits would’ve attacked anywhere and their sting is even more lethal. Can this plan work or are they all underestimating this group that has survived for decades?

I’ve been loving this series as the writing has been brilliant and the artwork perfectly suited for the tone of the series and the nature of the characters. And the story took a very interesting turn as it was apparent that Prizrak and Sarah would have to join with the crimelords in order to stand a chance against the White Suits. And this issue would unfold by transitioning back and forth between the time when the two of them were initially captured and 5 days after when their plan would be implemented. And the artwork that has worked so well this series suffers a little this issue and it’s not that the action sequences are difficult to follow, although it did give me pause on an occasion, it’s that the faces made it difficult to distinguish between characters at times.  And when the outfits change due to jumping back and forth between the 2 days it contributes to that. But overall it still works very well this issue as some of the sequences benefit heavily from the style and especially some of the more graphic elements. The story itself focuses mainly on the plan and even the parts that deal with Sarah and Prizrak being captured there are no new revelations and it’s just a matter of them convincing the crime bosses they indeed want to kill the White Suits. And I can always enjoy good action, and this issue had plenty of it, but one of the more enjoyable aspects of this series has been the story development and the mystery behind the White Suits and unfortunately this issue doesn’t reach the same level as prior issues or answer the questions raised previously. It’s still an enjoyable issue and there are some good developments here including one that gives insight into Prizrak’s character in the past but it appears we’ll have to wait a little longer for some of the mystery to unravel and questions to be answered. This issue you have to sit back and enjoy the action.

    SUMMARY

White Suits #3 is another entertaining issue as the counteroffensive against the White Suits is set in motion and the stakes are raised for all parties involved. The action isn’t as easy to follow due to some face recognition problems but the level of satisfaction reached in prior issues due to the plot thickening or a question being answered isn’t the same here as the enjoyment is more visceral than cerebral. But it still moves the story forward and I can take satisfaction in that while still looking forward to the next set of events.
