Terminator: Enemy of My Enemy #6

  • The good

Great action sequences and as a result the artwork carries the majority of the issue. Greene is such an enjoyable character.

  • The bad

Dr. Fong's importance and those who wanted her wasn't clarified and prevented the story from being more engrossing

  • The ugly

  • Terminator: Enemy of My Enemy #6 is the conclusion to the series and has former Agent Greene facing off against the terminator sent to kill Dr. Fong. It opens up with Greene and Dr. Fong flying in a plane on the way to Greene dropping her off to complete her mission. Dr. Fong mentions that she knows Greene is probably dropping her off to those who want to kill her but she knows for certain that Greene was protecting her from a monster she wouldn’t know how to describe. At first Greene is hesitant to elaborate on the situation but Dr. Fong informs her that since they’re in an airplane there’s no where she can escape to if Greene tells her the truth so she might as well do so. Greene starts to open up eventually and tells Dr. Fong that her history of breaking promises has just led to deaths but before she can tell her more they have to evacuate the plane due to the Terminator heading straight at them in another plane. They’re fortunate to get out in time but the debris from the head on collision rains down on a town below engulfing some buildings in flames. However they don’t assume that the collision destroyed the Terminator so they use this opportunity to attempt to find another means of escape. But with the Terminator promising to not stop until Dr. Fong or it is dead, are they just delaying the inevitable while putting others in harm’s way?

I’ve been enjoying this series although I admit that I’ve also felt it hasn’t taken full advantage of its premise due to the story not elaborating on Dr. Fong’s importance of having a terminator sent back to kill her. She was so underdeveloped that I even considered that Greene, who’s been an excellent protagonist, might actually have been the target but due to mistaken identity in history the terminator was targing Dr. Fong. This issue would attempt to show more about Dr. Fong but as soon as the plot was about to get deeper with her, there was an interruption. It reminded me of an old Simpsons episode taking place in the future where every time an adult Maggie was getting ready to say something she was interrupted by someone or something. I can’t say this was shocking considering the way the series has gone , and that’s with the focus being on the extended action sequences, which fortunately, were as intense and enjoyable as ever. As I mentioned before, the movement in the panels flow so well during action sequences that it feels like a short action movie. And as a result, Jamal Igle’s artwork once again carries the majority of this issue. The sheer scope of everything that occurs this issue is clear with entertaining events, and only hampered by the fact that it’s all being done for someone who has been relatively inconsequential. And there are some series that would work better if allowed to have another story arc, and that’s how I feel about this series because I would love to see what lies ahead.

    SUMMARY

Terminator: Enemy of My Enemy #6 is an ok issue containing intense and exciting action in one final battle between Greene and the Terminator but is lacking when it comes delivering answers for the most pertinent matter, which is Dr. Fong’s importance. The destruction caused by the Terminator was epic in scale and so the importance of the target should’ve matched that. However, Greene comes off as an even more intriguing character and the action sequences had the feel of an enjoyable action movie. I don’t know if they’ll be another story arc eventually connected to this series but I hope it delivers more answers so the story could be more engrossing overall.
