Prometheus: Life and Death #2

  • The good

Fire and Stone tie-in, excellent issue overall.

  • The bad

    The issue ended.

  • The ugly

    Flies touched by accelerant. Creepy.

  • When we last left off, the marine company found themselves on an unscheduled flight in the vessel they were supposed to research. To top it off, they’ve awakened a sleeping Engineer. To make matters even worse, they are about to land on LV-223 in Prometheus: Life and Death #2.

As they land, a couple of familiar faces observe the situation: Angela Foster and Galgo! For those not familiar, both characters played key roles in the Fire and Stone series. The series was wildly inconsistent, but Galgo was one of the standouts. Even after landing, the marines and scientists remain at odds. Singer and Melville are chomping at the bit to study the pyramid, planet, and accelerant. Meanwhile, there is a “space god” to contend with.

    Prometheus: Life and Death #2
Needless to say, this issue is packed with goodness. It has just the right pace with a fantastic payoff at the end. The dialogue flows throughout with no lulls causing the story to drag. The comics continue to make LV-223 a more interesting place. It continues to be built up as place filled with mystery and danger, and a nice change of pace from the constant visits to LV-426. Dan Abnett once again hits it out of the park with his writing; the characters feel real and believable. Sergeant Roth is awesome, and he’d get along quite well with Apone. Andrea Mutti kills it with the artwork too. The first four panels are gorgeous.

    SUMMARY

As you can tell, this was my favorite issue so far in the Life and Death series. This should set up a fun last 2 issues so hopefully this momentum continues. Don’t hesitate folks, go out and grab this issue!
