Prometheus: Fire and Stone #3

  • The good

    Strong story moments. Engineer appearance.

  • The bad

    Waiting for the next issue.

  • The ugly

  • “How far would you go to get your answers?” – David, Prometheus

*Pokes head out after the carnage of previous Aliens vs. Predator issues* is it safe? No? I’m slithering my way out to review Prometheus: Fire and Stone #3 anyway. Last issue was a tough one to follow, but this series remains the strongest so far. This universe is the perfect leadoff hitter for the rest of the stories. Let’s see what type of trouble resides on LV-223:

We begin with Francis fleeing for his life from Elden, and using his synthetic as a guinea pig for the black goo experiment was not the best idea. His loyal servant has been transforming into something else, something deadly. This is poignant as we’re finally able to witness what happened between these two since the encounters we’ve read about only hinted at their falling out. Synthetics, always causing trouble!

Angela and the team were doing their best to find their way off the planet. Unfortunately, the xenomorphs had other ideas as they swarmed the Helios. Not only is there the threat of the creatures, but also the jungle of LV-223 wasn’t making things easy. They have done an excellent job teasing the appearance of the Engineers, and there is finally a payoff in this issue. I do not want to ruin it, but it was a highlight for me.

With three issues in the books, everything is coming to a head. Next issue should be great as we see the conclusion and tipping point for the rest of the story. I enjoyed the exploration on what happens when you mess with nature. Francis wanted to use Elden for his own benefit, to cure himself. Never mess with the natural order.

    SUMMARY

While not the action packed orgy of the previous issue, Prometheus: Fire and Stone #3 was a fantastic read. The bubbling drama is beginning to erupt, and it has been worth the build up. This series has enhanced the movie, and you can’t ask for much more than that.
