Before we begin, I need to get something off my chest (it’s not bursting don’t worry). If you prefer your stories more along the lines of Life and Death and Defiance, you aren’t going to like this. This unholy crossover has a bit more of a summer blockbuster vibe. It’s fun, but is it good? Let’s find out!

To kick off Predator vs. Judge Dredd vs. Aliens #2, we get some backstory with Dredd and Reinstot. Dredd had encountered him before and was led to believe he had killed him. We fast forward to present day and the Predators. This part of the issue I thoroughly enjoyed. As the Predators are tracking their lost counterpart, we see the battle between Dredd and his team. The mix of their tracking ability crossing with Dredd’s battle skills was a fun juxtaposition. I look forward to seeing those two interact with each other as the story progresses.

Of course, Reinstot’s mutant hybrids take Dredd and what’s left of his team back the compound. Here, the good doctor reveals how is still alive. We also discover how absolutely nuts he is. These crazy, evil, brilliant, twisted scientists are nothing new to the Aliens universe, but Reinstot seems interesting enough to hopefully stand out from the rest. I do like the Island of Dr. Moreau vibe he gives off. Lots of creatures in this story, which I think helps mix things up from the standard. Dredd is perfect as the story centerpiece, as he is the quintessential badass. Once the xenomorphs start pouring out in full force, this should get fun.

SUMMARY

I found Predator vs. Judge Dredd vs. Aliens #2 to be far more enjoyable than the first. It seemed to embrace more of what it wants to be. If the quality remains as is, I think this will be a fun alternative to the other comics out there. Until next time, this issue has been…judged! I’m sorry; I’m a bad person.
