Predator: Life and Death #2

  • The good

    Excellent action

  • The bad

Still feels familiar, perhaps a bridge to more?

  • The ugly

  • Predator: Life and Death #2 picks up as Paget and the crew debate what to do with the discovery of the Juggernaut. Lortimer, being the loyal company man, now knows this is the main focus of the mission. This always goes over well with the Colonial Marines! When the Company sees an opportunity to further their research, it forgoes all other items. Unfortunately, for everyone involved the jungle is watching everything….

Mr. Goode, our lone survivor of the previous expedition, happily spills the details about the fate of his mission. He could care less about pissing in Weyland Yutani’s pool at this point, as Mr. Goode wants nothing to do with the Predator threat. Perhaps distracted by the Juggernaut discovery, surprisingly no one believes in an additional threat.

This is where the issue picks up, the marines in the midst of an area find themselves the victim of a hunt. There are some glorious kills here, as the Predators take out their prey one by one. Rucker proves to be the best of the bunch, and in a fun cat and mouse game takes one of the hunters. After doing so, he finds himself surrounded. But were they going to honor Rucker, or finish him off?We don’t get a chance to find off as the rest of his squad bears down to help.

    SUMMARY

After an excellent first issue, I was expecting a bit more here. There was nothing wrong per se with this issue but nothing really stood out either. The dialogue was still very good, kept things moving at a good pace. It still feels like it fits in the Predator universe. Maybe this is just a setup for a bigger revelation next issue? I do enjoy the story so far, as I’m quite curious what is going on with that Juggernaut ship.
