Alien vs. Predator: Fire and Stone #2

  • The good

A beautiful symphony of destruction between all of the creatures.

  • The bad

    Issue #3 isn’t out yet.

  • The ugly

  • For those that have been following my reviews, it’s quite evident that I am a fan of balance. I enjoy a story that has just the right amount of plot, and just the right amount of action. It’s especially important in sci-fi, where we need to find something to care about during the conflict. And then there is this issue, which proves a change of pace is great in the right context.
Alien vs. Predator: Fire and Stone #2 is the Expendables of the series so far (with much better dialogue of course), wall-to-wall action from panel to panel. Carnage is strewn about in every shape and form. Elden continues his rampage to get to Francis for some answers. Predators attacking Elden, xenomorphs attacking Predators, cats and dogs living together mass hysteria! Not only is the action constant, but it is also beautifully crafted. Death and destruction is beautifully detailed, the reader never loses site of what is going on.
Plot content is not sacrificed for action however, as we find out more what is driving Elden. Not only is he kicking ass, but also he is more than just a simple antagonist. Francis is one of my characters of the arc so far, lots of intrigue with his possible motivation and actions. I hope he survives the mayhem.

    SUMMARY

I was a huge fan of this issue, excellent action showcasing all of the creatures. Despite only two characters, the dialogue was still intriguing. This fit the Alien vs. Predator theme perfectly and it’s a shame that neither movie could grasp this simple concept. Pick up this issue, just look out for flying claws as you do so.
