Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle Earth – New Troops

The latest Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle Earth update gives players 2 new tactical troops but they can’t be trained and can only be won through Tauriel’s Circle of Fate, chests and special events. It’s another push to make combat deeper by giving more troop options and adding specialization units, and considering how generous the game has been of late in providing troops I’m all for this. I do hope it becomes possible to directly train some of these troops but for now I’m glad the chests and special events provide them at a rate higher than what might be possible to currently train. Here are the two main changes in this update:

  • Two new tactical troops – Woodsmen and Lyncean Raiders
  • 5,000, 10,000 and 50,000 idle Population boost items

The two troops are pretty impressive and serve two different functions. The Woodsmen have a high attack value so they’re perfect for attacking other troops and cities. However they have a low life value so they can be killed easily so they work best with other troops, such as Stone Giants, which have a high life value. The Lyncean Raiders are about 2.5 times faster than the Woodsmen, half as strong but double the life so they’re best at scouting enemies and camps farther away from your cities and potentially leading some attacks as well.

With T1 – T4 troops combat occurs in turns so your strongest troops are pitted against your enemies weakest troops for a turn and vice-versa. So usually it would be advantageous to know which troops are camped at the location you plan on attacking and using just one troop type corresponding to their highest troop type so you only have a weakness against one of their troop types instead of 3. With the new troops combat changes because they have varying life and attack values, and some have priority over others when it comes to attacking and defense. So your strategy has to change based on that and the gear you acquire for your heroes now becomes more important as well. Here are the official stats for the two new troops as well as the other tactical troops:

Troop Type Attack Life Speed Load Might Upkeep
Lyncean Raiders
700 1400 3600 0 100 0
Woodsmen 1425 700 1400 10 100 0
Master Ranger 800 (x4) 1000 1400 35 0 6
Pack Mammoth 20 2400 700 55000 10 60
Stone Giant 100 2850 800 3000 100 0

Idle Population boosts increase the amount of troops you can train at one time due as well as your gold production, which is also needed for tier 4 troops. Taxes are generated based on your population and the higher the population the more gold you can earn. So it goes without saying that these boosts will help you produce what’s necessary for your kingdom at an even faster rate. Now if only hobbit building crews were more readily available…

Hi, thanks for visiting. You’re at the level where you won’t earn XP through regular battles. You’ll need to use Hero’s Glory and the like to level up at this point

Great site and information! I’m trying to determine might for T5 & T6 troops. The chart is great. I’m a little confused between the chart and the comments. Just to make sure I fully understand, you’re saying T5s have 100 might and T6s have 144 might? Can you tell me what troops are T5 and which are T6? Finally might for Mastre Rangers in the chart is zero. Is this correct?

Thanks! Yes the might for the Master Rangers is zero so your overall might won’t increase but they still have high attack value for campaigns. The T5 troops for dwarves are as follows:
      Riders of Erebor – Mounted
      Grim Hammers – Foot
      Crossbow Warriors – Ranged
      Supply Columns

Tier 5 troops have a might of 144 from my tests. The tactical troops are listed in the chart above

What does x4 mean in the table above for the master rangers. How do you get that x4 modifier?

The x4 modifier is automatically applied when you use master rangers in campaign attacks. So they are still the best troops in campaign mode overall

The 4x for the master rangers means they are four times stronger when fighting goblins

Hi, each woodsmen should add 100 might to your city once you use them. How many did you win and add?

Thanks for visiting. There’s currently no place in game where you can see the stats directly like the t1-t4 troops but I’ve posted the stats for the new troops here and it’s been officially confirmed http://hulkingreviewer.com/home/hobbit-kingdoms-middle-earth-new-troops/
For the tier 5 troops I know they have a might of 144 and going by the increases from T1-T4 I would assume they have Life and Attack of 6 stars each and maintenance of 32. Hope this helps
