Hellraid

Hellraid is a first person, co-op RPG developed by Techland and set in a world filled with dark fantasy and devastated by demons. You can play with up to 3 friends as either a Barbarian, Rogue, Paladin, or Mage, as you fight your way through dungeons, swamps and catacombs. And as the enemies get increasingly difficult, you’ll have to develop your skills wisely, as well as craft advanced weaponry for the various classes in order to survive. Of course there will be loot as rewards and co-op challenges to make the competition between friends more interesting to see who can get the most hits, kills or assists. But you can’t lose sight of the goal because only a select group of fighters can defeat the armies of hell. So if you prefer, you can just focus on the single-player story driven campaign to complete your objectives.

I haven’t seen much in terms of a story, aside from the armies of hell being let loose, and causing destruction in the world. Since I enjoy RPGs, and that type of story can be done in different variations in many RPGs, there are other aspects that look very interesting to me until I learn more about the story.

And what is being promoted now is the combat, and the game play looks very enjoyable to me. There is no switching between first person and third person perspective and there isn’t anything new about the character classes of Barbarian, Rogue, Paladin, or Mage. The implementation of it can be unique and with the ability to craft weapons in what is being described as “an advanced weapon crafting system,” this could be a very interesting take on the classes, as well as an interesting game play mechanic. I am always interested in new RPGs and I am interested in this one so I’ll be keeping my eye on it. However with the release of the Witcher 3 and Elder Scrolls Online in 2014, Hellraid, when it’s released later this year, might just be what holds me over until then.
