First Look: Bloodshot Reborn: The Analog Man – Director’s Cut #1
When I think of Bloodshot I think of a man of action. So it’s appropriate that the first preview of Bloodshot Reborn: The Analog Man – Director’s Cut #1 doesn’t have any words, just pencils. And with the pencils for this issue being so glorious with its detail a story is told, and it’s an engrossing one of fighting to protect what one loves against those bent on destroying it. And even though Bloodshot is more than capable of handling himself in a fight he knows this is one that he won’t be able to completely win alone. And Valiant knows that if there’s one thing better than Bloodshot it’s more Bloodshot, and this Director’s Cut will feature 48 pages and set to release February 24th, 2016.
This issue is set years in the future in a post-apocalyptic wasteland formerly known as Los Angeles. Things have changed drastically over the years for Bloodshot and he now goes by the name the Analog Man. He’s been able to find happiness with Magic, the love of his life, in a small town where he is viewed as the protector. But where there’s a safe town in a post-apocalyptic world there’s sure to be those who want to invade it and take the resources and everything else for themselves. So when a gang of marauders attack the settlement it’s up to Bloodshot to mete out justice and protect the inhabitants.
Valiant describes this issue as the “all-new jumping-on point for Valiant’s most relentless hero!” I would agree since it’s a new story arc set in the future starting in Bloodshot Reborn #10 but the series will return to the current time. I’m excited for this story arc, and I like the name the Analog Man because I’m curious about him adopting it. And yes, the pencils in the preview pages below are just gorgeous yet I’m also interested in the story crafted by Jeff Lemire considering Bloodshot is in a completely different state at this point in his life. There seems to be a Mad Max vibe/environment based on some of the pencils but I guess that’s standard when dealing with post-apocalyptic wastelands. I just can’t wait to get my hands on this issue.
Bloodshot Reborn #10 is set to be released January 27th but the Director’s Cut will be released February 24th.
