The Boondocks Season 4

There’s finally a date for The Boondocks Season 4 and it’s…wait let me try that again. There will be a season 4 for The Boondocks starting in January 2014 after almost 4 years since season 3 ended. So the uncertainty of whether or not there would be another season for the edgy, political and social commentary animated series is now gone. So I hope you’re prepared for the return of Huey and Riley Freeman, and their granddad, Robert Freeman, because I don’t expect this season to be any less controversial than the previous seasons. Even last season’s finale addressed “enhanced interrogation” and that wasn’t even its most controversial episode.

One of the good things about The Boondocks is it’s only considered edgy because it addresses current issues in a way that isn’t considered mainstream at the time. And yes it does so in a humorous and entertaining way, but it’s not done just for shock value at all. Whether it’s the trial of R. Kelly, the return of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., or the use of the N-word, The Boondocks hasn’t shied away from many topics considered off-limits for other outlets. It’s definitely not all serious as there are genuine laugh out loud moments with Riley getting into some kind of trouble, or Uncle Ruckus acting up in his usual way. I’m just glad I can finally say the wait for season 4 is over.
